On January 11th we watched the movie “Heaven is for Real” and had a great discussion a erwards about our Faith and how challenging it can be to be a teenage Orthodox Chris- tian in today’s world. ank you to Mrs. Fran Gonis our parent coordi- nator and thank you to Dr. Mike and Erika Couris who worked with the younger GOYAns to put their hand- prints on the wall. For those of you that were not able to attend GOYA last month, look for the brand new 55’ TV in the GOYA room which will get plenty of use between Sun- day School and GOYA. ank you to the Parish Council for donating this TV to our youth programs. Please join us for GOYA Bowling on Saturday, February 22nd . We will once again be at Mira Mesa Bowl (8210 Mira Mesa Blvd) then dinner at Filippi’s Pizza Grotto nearby (9969 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego 92131). Our parent coordinator for this event will be Renee Maude so please let us know by Tuesday, February 18th if you are coming so we can properly prepare. e cost is $20 per person which will cover all the evenings ac- tivities. We will meet at 5pm at the bowling alley and then carpool over to Filippi’s where parents can pick you up at 8 pm. We wish the best of luck to all our kids heading for FDF over Presi- dent’s Day weekend. You’ve been working hard so go and make us all proud win or lose! On Saturday,March 14th wewill mix it up a bit for our monthly GOYA ac- tivity. We will be meeting at La Jolla Shores Beach for a Beach Clean-up project. Please arrive at 8 am to help clean the beach. We will do breakfast when we are done. What a great way to begin Great and Holy Lent (which starts on March 2nd this year) by doing a service project for others. ank you to GOYA board member George Dougenis for organizing this activity. Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for the annual GOYA Palm Sunday Luncheon on Sunday, April 12, 2020 . GOYA will once again host the annual Palm Sunday lun- cheon. GOYAns we need ALL your help that weekend beginning with Saturday, April 11th when we tie the palms and set up the hall all the way through Sunday a ernoon April 12th. Remember this is the ONLY fundraiser we have each year and our chance to shine for the parish. As we have done in the past we will be ask- ing families for donations to o set our expenses. Finally, don’t forget to register for St. Nicholas Ranch for Summer Camp. is amazing experience is open for kids 8 thru 18 years old (graduating high school Seniors in 2020 can still attend) and of course you can still take the bus BACK and FORTH to the Ranch from San Diego for Week # 1 – July 12-18th .
