We are beginning to prepare music for Great and Holy Lent. Pascha will be here before we know it. Last month, I hosted the choir in my home for a post-holiday gathering. We had a lovely time and some fun with a traditional “steal the gift” ex- change. We also celebrated our very own Collette’s 90th birthday [See photo on page 5]. We pray the good Lord will grant her many more years. The choir would like to acknowl- edge some birthdays for January and February: Daralyne, Collette, Tim- my, Nick, Manny, Marina, Elaine. May God continue to watch over you. Happy Birthday to you! A big special birthday to our Fr. Andrew! God continues to guide and protect you. Enjoy your day! St. Cupid wishes you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day! But we are reminded that “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God,” (Luke 18:27) and we can certainly be thankful to God for that! +The Women of the Word Bible Study Group Contact: susanmiserlis@gmail.com This month of February we will be preparing for the sea- son of Great and Holy Lent, which begins at the end of the month. Participating fully in the Lenten disciplines is hard work! We get tired, experience hunger pains, and get worn down. We give thanks to God for His mercy since in this season of repentance we are perhaps more deeply aware of our need for it. As we make the journey toward Pascha, why not try read- ing a pivotal Lenten book published last year; researched and written by Presvytera Eugenia Scarvelis Constantinou, PhD: The Cruci xion of the King of Glory: The Amazing History and Sublime Mystery of the Passion. Ancient Faith publication book reviews state, “this book is an all-encompassing account of the last week of Christ’s life. Dr. Constantinou does a wonderful job of pulling in many different facets of that week to weave an in depth narrative that will help the reader better understand Christ’s last days”. And as stated by Kay Harkins in her book review from our August Shepherd, “the book is constructed in three main parts to facilitate many approaches to its reading. One might study each of the three main sections one at a time, or may read its smaller almost self-contained chapters to allow the enormity of Christ’s sacri ce to be borne without emotional- ly overwhelming the reader. It may be read devotionally over a period of time such as Great and Holy Lent to great effect. Additionally, it can also lend itself to a powerfully immersive experience through the course of Holy Week”. Stop by the bookstore today and get your copy. Lent will be here before you know it! Cost is $23 per book. Wishing you all a wonderful month of February! Stephanie Mourafetis, Mary Mastorakos, Pat Tsopanoglou, Collette Pepelis, and Francesca Captain BOOKSTORE
