My grandfather is one of the lucky ones whose cancer is now in remission. Unfortunately, our beloved St. Spyridon’s GOYA advisor, Stephanie Navrides, was diagnosed with this same disease in 2019. She fought valiantly, demonstrating strength and dignity, but ultimately succumbed to the disease. I have decided to try and make an impact against cancer with my teammates, Harrison Trikas, Meli Trikas, Kate Demakis and John Demakis, by working with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). We have formed team “Be The Change” as a way to build awareness about blood cancers and help other people who have been impacted by these types of cancer. We believe great things are possible if we fight this as a community. Hopefully, there will be a time where no child, parent, grandparent, relative or friend will have to fear these types of cancer.
