Let us cleanse ourselves from all evil, crying out to the Giver of Light: “Glory to You, O Lover of Man!” – From Cheesefare Wednesday vespers It begins... e beginning of the Triodion was last month, and it is a period of prepara- tion that will lead us to Pascha and the Lord’s Resurrection. As Y2am’s Steve Christoforou states: We’ll pray more. Fast more. Give more alms. We’ll do everything the Pharisee did, but, of course, we don’t want to be like the Phari- see. We don’t want to fall into the deception of turning inwards, congratulating ourselves for “being good” and trusting in our own spiritual accomplishments. Instead we want to turn our attention to wise and holy teachers who can help us grow as Christians. e bookstore has a great selection of re- sources to help us grow in our journey through lent. Archimandrite Papavassiliou’s Meditation for Great Lent is a gem of a book to inspire you for the Fast and to give you encouragement as you pursue your Lenten period. Meditations for Holy Week is an in- sightful read to help us enter fully into the most rich and intense period before Pascha. Other teachers to consider are Alexander Schmemann’s Great Lent: Journey to Pas- cha, or omas Hopko’s e Lenten Spring. A great addition to all Orthodox homes to enter into the Lenten mindset is e Lent- en Triodion. We also have a nice selection of Lenten fasting cookbooks: Fasting as a Fam- ily, A Lenten Cookbook, e Festive Fast, Lenten Monastery recipes. Also, look for our display table with wonderful children’s Paschal books, including Orthodox Activity books, and Orthodox coloring books. A long road is ahead of us as we prepare for Pascha, come take a look, and pick up a book that will help you and lead you on the right path. A blessed Lent to all!
