We had a great turnout, with a total of 6 participants in the Elementary, Junior and, Senior categories. The judges’ results were announced in church on March 10th. Congratula- tions to James Burrell who placed first in the Senior category and Sia Paraskevopoulos who placed first in the Junior Category and were honored with the George M. Platis Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Michael and Maria Platis in honor of their son George who competed in the Oratorical festival and proud- ly represented St. Spyridon. Kaitlyn Dennis and Maria Paraskevopoulos (who received second place in the Senior and Junior categories respec- tively) will also advance to the Dis- trict level competition as we have the option to advance two speakers in each category. The District Orator- ical festival will be held for the first time at St. Spyridon on April 6th. We will have participants from all over Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, and San Diego counties come to compete and we are very excited to have been chosen as the host parish this year! Mark your calendars for Saturday April 6th at 10:00 a.m. and join us for a lovely brunch and a wonderful series of speakers.
