What a wonderful ninth year I had as GOYA Direc- tor. A huge thank you to this year’s GOYA Board, Zoe Maude, Maggie Samouris, George Dougenis, Ellia Samouris, and Marina Navrides . I really enjoyed working with all of you. Good luck in college Zoe (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo), Maggie (Uni- versity of Oregon) and George (Cal State San Marcos). ank you to ALL the GOYAns (we had over 30 serve and help) for your part in making our April 17th Palm Sunday luncheon such a huge success. With over 240 people in at- tendance, you did our community proud! ank you Maggie Samouris and George Dougenis for being the emcees for the luncheon AND for each GOYAn who worked so hard Palm Sunday weekend. It was a beau- tiful site to see all your smiling faces serving our St. Spyridon community with love and ke . e Palm Sun- day luncheon raised over $5,000 for GOYA and our ministries, and the GOYA board was thrilled to donate $500 to the National Philoptochos to support our Orthodox Brothers and Sisters in Ukraine. To the many fam- ilies who made monetary donations to help o set our costs THANK YOU. Not only do GOYA families support our youth, but truly our entire community. God Bless you all! To Mrs. Jannie Gallanis , Mrs. Vicky Mellos, and Mr. Andreas Ca- petanakis, we could not have done it without you! Your love for our youth is such a blessing! ank you to ALL the GOYA parents who helped in the kitchen on Sunday and all those who helped set up Saturday. It tru- ly was a team e ort. We had elections on May 21st and because of press dead- lines we will announce the 2022- 2023 board in the July newsletter. What a blessing to have over 20 kids from our Church going to summer camp at St. Nicholas Ranch and Re- treat Center during week # 1 (begin- ning on Sunday, July 10th). is is the MOST we have ever had going from our parish. ank you, parents, for encouraging your kids to attend this amazing ministry. ere will be a bus for the kids leaving from Sts. Constantine and Helen in Cardi on Sunday, July 10th and bringing them back on Saturday, July 16th . ank you so much to the St. Spyridon Par- ish Council, Philoptochos and oth- ers for their contributions to help o set the cost of the bus. We hope to have more than 50 kids from South- ern California going to camp on the bus like we have had in the past which would NOT be possible with- out these donations. is amazing summer camp experience is made that much easier for the parents and our kids with a bus back and forth to camp (with adult chaperones the whole way of course).
