Under Sofia’s leadership our chapter has continued the Anthousa tradi- tion of charitable outreach both within our St. Spyridon community and throughout the San Diego area. We thank Sofia for her tire- less dedication and her extremely effective, dynamic leadership of the Anthousa Chapter. On Sunday, June 8th the newly elected 2025- 2027 Anthousa Board of Directors was sworn in by Father Andrew, with the election of the Executive Board to follow. It is my humble honor to serve as the incoming President for the new term and to welcome our very en- thusiastic and dedicated new and returning members of the Anthousa Board! AGAPE MEALS: Philoptochos provides meals to community members in need fol- lowing hospitalizations, the death of a family member, or the birth of a child. As Philoptochos begins the 2025-2027 term, I look forward to continuing our ministries as well as growing new initiatives that en- compass the heart of Philoptochos. In Christ’s Sisterhood, Michelle Defelippi Anthousa Chapter President PHILOPTOCHOS NEWS A.H.E.P.A. AHEPA Chapter 223 San Diego hosted fel- lowship and a Tavli tournament on AHEPA Day, May 18th. The proceeds from the tour- nament went to benefit our scholarship fund. It was a good turnout with a field of 16 and eventually, Andreas Panagiotou defended his title by winning the whole thing. AHEPA Chapter 223 San Diego is proud to announce this year’s scholarship awards to our St. Spyridon community high school se- niors. This year’s recipients are: John Savvides, Vasiliki (Kiki) Mellos, and Mariana Newby. Our chapter would like to offer our hearty congratulations and wish the students all the best in their studies. The Scholarships will be awarded on Sunday, August 10th after the Divine Liturgy.
