It is my passion to help our youth and families engage in church activities that encourage strong relationships with Christ, the Church, and other Orthodox Christians. In July, I had the pleasure of attending the Clergy Laity Conference and one of the most impactful moments came when one of the presenters pointed out that we o en say that “Our chil- dren are the future of our church,” but what we need to add is that “ e Church is our children’s Future.” We hope that you will join us in building that future for our children and youth! Julie Dennis Youth Ministries Director Email: youthministries@stspyridon.org Mobile: 619-940-5167 HOPE (Holy Orthodox Primary Education) We want to welcome our children in Tran- sitional Kindergarten to 2nd Grade to be in HOPE! e youth group will start late Sep- tember and will meet regularly to focus on faith, fun, and learning. JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth) JOY will start late September and will include our children in Grades 3 through 6. ey will participate in youth group activities that are Christ-Centered and encourage learning in their faith and building relationships. GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth Association) If you have a youth in grades 7 through 12, we hope they will join GOYA and participate in the Christ-Centered and fun activities throughout the year! GOYA activities are planned by our GOYA Board and Director. e teens enjoy opportunities to create activ- ities that are engaging and grow their faith. Our 2022/2023 Goya Board is: Luka Maude – President, Andreana Frangos - First Vice President, Sia Paraskevopoulos – Second Vice President, Nora Kleinhenz – Secretary, and Alexios Savvides - Treasurer. Greek Dance Did you get a chance to see our dancers per- form at the Festival? We hope so! Our Dance Groups include kids, teens, and young adults and are amazing! St. Spyridon dance groups o en participate at FDF and our festival. is is a wonderful way to carry on our Greek traditions and culture! We hope you will consider joining Dance this year! Keep an eye out for more information in Septem- ber’s newsletter! Sunday School Sunday School resumes on September 11th! is year, we hope to have a full program including Preschool, TK – 1st grades, 2nd – 3rd grades, 4th – 5th grades, 6th – 8th grades, 9th – 12th grade classes! Kids’ Corner will continue to serve our youngest children and families with toys and fellowship! We will be continuing and expanding our Middle and High School Service Sunday program. We will also have new opportunities for our high school seniors! Be sure to register your kids and teens in advance! Keep an eye out for the 2022/2023 Registration Form. OTHER YOUTH EVENTS: Metropolis of San Francisco Summer Camp at St. Nicholas Ranch! Our Campers had an amazing time at our Metropolis Summer Camp! We hope you got to hear a few of the campers speak a er Divine Services. ey told our Parish about all of the good times, fun activities, new friends, and faith events that they enjoyed at camp! St. Nicholas Sum- mer Camp is an annual event and serves youth ages 8 – 18. We hope you will join the fun next year! YOUTH MINISTRIES
