STEWARDSHIP AS ICONS OF CHRIST As many of us have observed, the Orthodox Church has been living through a unique phenomenon of significant growth, both here in the United States and abroad. Every week, we can spot a new face, a cou- ple, or a family sitting in our pews for the first time, and through the grace of God, they miraculously reappear the following week. The reasons for this trend are many, but among those asked, many cite the feeling of being connected to the original Church, the depth and meaning in living a liturgical life, a needed return to tra- ditional values, or simply a rejection of modernity and secularism. Oddly enough, many are introduced to the Church through social media of all things, but regardless of the reason, they have come to our door. And while this trend is a tremendous blessing, it comes with an immense responsibility for all of us as we are called to be beacons of light and pro- claim as Christ did, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) As we continue to pray for our cat- echumens and our new converts, please remember that we can also help to guide them by being humble icons of Christ so that they may rec- ognize Him in us.
