9 THE SHEPHERD • OCTOBER 2026 • SAINT SPYRIDON GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF SAN DIEGO HONORING CHURCH LEADERSHIP The Stewardship Committee would like to take this opportunity to rec- ognize all of the individuals, both past and present, that chose to serve in a position of leadership in order to help our church and its commu- nity. So many of our own have self- lessly answered the call to support a ministry, an important event, or even the church, simply because it needed to be done. The decision not only required a personal commit- ment of time, energy, and sacrifice, but one of courage; to work with everyone involved to accomplish a shared goal, to find balance between the needs of the few and the needs of the many; and to stand responsi- ble for all decisions made. One could argue that our church leadership is a ministry itself as they all work to improve the life of our parish, while managing the challenges that come with the role, all while striving to be steadfast and humble servants. Their legacy of sacrifice and service can be witnessed every week, and it is im- portant for all of us to thoughtfully reflect on how their gifts of steward- ship actively shape our parish life. It would be impossible to recognize all of our brothers and sisters in Christ that have led the way for our community, but it is important that we offer our gratitude for their vi- sion, devotion, and enduring service to our church.
