It is a time that most parishes “kick o ” their stewardship e orts for the coming New Year. As a nancial steward of our community I respectfully ask that when considering your 2020 pledge commitment, please pause and say a prayer as you re ect upon your stew- ardship o ering to your beloved parish. Ask yourself, “Am I taking my nancial steward- ship obligation seriously? Or, will your pledge o ering be a mechanical check writing expe- rience? Will this year’s stewardship pledge be a serious pledge commitment to be ful lled over the course of the entire 2020 calendar year? Or one that requires a few eeting mo- ments as if it really does not matter? e goal of our parish, which hopefully you support, is to totally fund our operating budget with stewardship dollars instead of using monies designated for other purposes. If each and every one of us took a serious look at our stewardship giving and compared it to other expenses in our personal home budgets the goal of totally funding our operating budget could be accomplished. Let me be clear, stewardship giving, like at- tending the Divine Liturgy, is not an option . As the body of Christ on earth it is our holy obligation generously and graciously of- fered to Christ and His Church here on Park Blvd. Our responsibility toward stewardship should not be o ered grudgingly or with con- ditions but should be given freely and joyful- ly . From both the Old and New Testaments and from the life of the Church throughout the ages (Holy Tradition) we are reminded that our stewardship giving should be from our rst fruits and not from our le overs . Stewardship giving should not come from an attitude of “I will pay all my other bills and from whatever I think I have le over , then I will take care of my Church.” As we freely of- fer our rst fruits with joy, we come to realize that we are truly ful lling part of our calling as Greek Orthodox Christians. By now many of you have received a Stew- ardship Packet sent out by the Stewardship Committee. As we draw closer to the new 2020 calendar year, I, along with our ded- icated Parish Council and hardworking Stewardship Committee, encourage each and every one of you to once again give seri- ous consideration to your 2020 stewardship pledge commitment to Christ. We must all pull together in our stewardship giving in a concerted e ort to pay for our parish’s Op- erating Budget using stewardship dollars only- that is the goal. Make no mistake this is doable; so let’s make it happen. + Fr.
