Our teaching team is working hard to engage our students to an enhanced and immersive learning experience. Motivation and Learning The definition of Motivation is a process of interaction between the learner and the environment, which is marked by selection, initiation, in- crease, or persistence of goal-direct- ed behavior. It has been thought of variously as a quality of the individ- ual, the situation, or the activity in which the individual is engaged. Types of Motivation in Learning: 1. Extrinsic Motivation: Extrinsic motivation refers to the drive to en- gage in an activity in order to obtain external rewards or avoid negative consequences, rather than for the enjoyment or personal satisfaction of the activity itself. It is typically driv- en by external factors such as money, recognition, or pressure from others. 2. Intrinsic Motivation: Intrinsic motivation refers to the inherent drive and enjoyment that comes from engaging in an activity for its own sake, rather than for external re- wards or pressure. It is characterized by a sense of personal fulfillment, interest, and satisfaction that arises from within the individual. How To Build Intrinsic Motivation In Your Child: • Allow room for mistakes • Recognize when they work hard • Foster a growth mindset • Break down big goals into smaller steps • Celebrate successes • Foster a sense of gratitude • Model your own intrinsic motiva- tion We will be on Thanksgiving break from Monday, November 20th through Friday, November 24th.
