7 THE SHEPHERD • NOVEMBER 2025 • SAINT SPYRIDON GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF SAN DIEGO November being the month of Thanksgiv- ing, I would like to make you aware that Philoptochos is the official charitable arm of the Greek Orthodox Church and the sec- ond-largest Christian Philanthropic organi- zation in the Western Hemisphere. This year, our Anthousa Chapter has donated more than $50,000 to charitable organizations and causes, thanks to the support and gen- erosity of our members and our community. Some of the ministries our chapter supports are Kids ‘n’ Cancer, Feeding the Hungry in conjunction with FOCUS, Hellenic Col- lege / Holy Cross Seminary, Assistance for our Troops and Veterans, Salvation Army & Food Pantry, St. Innocent Orphanage, Disaster & Fire Aid, Monastery of the Life Giving Spring – Dunlap, St. Nicholas Ranch, San Diego Rescue Mission and many, many more. Thank you to our members and sup- porters for making this charitable work pos- sible; without you our mission would not be sustainable. FEED-THE-HUNGRY: All community members are encouraged to join Andreas Capetanakis and his team to carry out our “Feed-the-Hungry” ministry.
