Happy December to all! We pray that everyone is well and is busy getting ready for the holidays. We can’t be- lieve they are here again. Time really ies!!! We wanted to wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a safe New Year! We praise the new born child, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Once in a Manger Once in a manger, a long time ago, Before there was Santa and reindeer and snow, A star shone down on humble beginnings below Of a baby just born who the world would soon know. Never before had there been such a sight. Would the Son of a King have to su er this plight? Aren't there armies to lead? Ar- en't there battles to ght? Shouldn't He conquer the world and demand His birthright? No, this frail little infant asleep in the hay Would change the whole world with the words He would say. Not about power or demanding His way, But mercy and loving and for- giving God's way. For only through humbleness would the battle be won As shown by the actions of God's only true Son. Who gave up His life for the sins of everyone, Who saved the whole world when His journey was done. Many years have now passed since that night long ago And now we have Santa and reindeer and snow But down in our hearts the true meaning we know, It is the birth of that child that makes Christmas so. By Tom Krause NEWS LOFT FROM THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE e year is ending and once again it can be said that the last two years have been a uniquely “trying time” for all of us as we face ongoing health crises with u and COVID, in ation in our community, and a twentieth century war in Europe. Tough indeed! However, as Father Andrew has been saying, we as a church are “coming back” and coming back strong. Is not that encouraging to all of us here at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church? Coming back strong suggests that we must continue to sup- port the many and varied ministries of our parish that de- pend upon all of us to funnel our time, energy, and talents to them. My favorite is GOYA, as my son participates in it; Altar Boys, as my son participates in it; Dance & Choral, as my son participates in it; Philoptochos, as it supports so many meaningful outreach programs; the Parish Council, as it o ers leadership to the entire community; the St. Spyr- idon Hellenic Foundation, as it collaborates with the church to build a better future for the community; and, personally, working in the holy altar with our youth altar servers. ere are many ministries with equal importance, and they are all deserving of our strong, robust support. us, I am writing this reminder again to remind all of you that your stewardship is critical to our success as an ecumenical church with so much to o er so many. So please, take a moment to help our parish nish strong in 2022 and complete your stewardship pledge for 2022. Once again, “thank you” for your continued support!
