5 THE SHEPHERD • NOVEMBER 2026 • SAINT SPYRIDON GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH OF SAN DIEGO DANCE & CHORAL Fall is full of fabulous activities. The Greek Dance and Choral School was thrilled to perform at Brookview Village Senior Housing community in Poway on October 17th. It was our first formal performance of the year. Ta Spyridon- akia, Helios, and Pelagos performed, and it was wonderful to see the com- munity turn out to learn all about Greek dance and culture. Special thanks to Greek resident Sonia Iraclanes, who invited us to perform and brought us delicious baklava. Hot off the heels of our October 30th Hellenic Fairways golf tournament, we are excited to participate in the Hellenic Heritage night at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. On Wednesday, November 4th the LA Clippers take on the Mi- ami Heat (We can root for the home team, and for Yianni!) Tickets purchased through this link https://www.gofevo.com/event/StSpyridonLAC26 include access to a pre-game reception and an exclusive Greek Heritage Night T-shirt. Five dollars from every ticket sale purchased through this link will also be donated back to our Greek Dance and Choral School! Back in time for the holidays is our See’s Candy fundraiser. Why fret with sizes and finicky friends when you can choose the gift everyone loves. A percent- age of all sales purchased through this link https://tinyurl.com/ye24n5wf goes back to the Dance and Choral School, so, you know the drill, buy early, scale down that holiday shopping list and support us! So, why so many fundraisers, you ask? We have quadrupled in size this year! We are sending four groups to FDF and have added six new instructors! We are grate- ful for your support, and we would love to see you at all these events and fund- raisers. A fall dance workshop (open to all) is in the planning stages right now, and we have already secured a date for our FDF Preview. Mark your calendars for Saturday, January 30th 2027 when the church hall will come alive with dancing, music and choral performances. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
